Project Description
Project included the development of a port to serve the Misurata Steel Complex.
Scope of Work
Construction of ;

- A 2,500 m long rubble mound North Breakwater with a deepest section of 13 m using   712,000 cub.m of rock and 15 to 40 tonnes tetrapods as primary armour.
- A 650 m long Secondary Breakwater with a deepest section of 8 meters.
- A 384 m long bulk berth for iron core carriers from 40,000 DWT up to 110,000 DWT   on 48" steel piles with 4,200 tonnes and 5,650 cub.m precast reinforced concrete   deck members.
- A Small craft harbour with a 500 m long quay, built utilising 20 tonnes blocks.

Dredging of 8,300,000 cub.m and reclamation of 1,500,000 cub.m for the Harbour Basin and Approach Channel.
A water intake structure screens, suction galleries and pump houses.
The total of ten reinforced concrete and structural steel operation buildings such as control building, substations and gatehouse.
The raw materials handling system comprised of a bulk unloader of 2,000 t/hr capacity, 6 conveyors and junction houses, two stacker-cub.m reclaimers and the conveyors supported with piled foundations and raw material stock area.
Installation of fire water, potable water, heavy fuel-oil, power distribution, drainage and sewerage systems.
Supply of port machineries such as tug boats, pilot launch, survey launch, mooring launch, loaders, bulldozers and cranes.
Training of personnel during erection-construction and maintenance period and technical assistance during operation for port facilities and raw material handling system.
